Rainbows 2 is situated in a self-contained single story unit in the centre of Whitley Bay.
There is suitable disabled access and an indoor garden area. A safe, secure and happy environment has been provided to ensure babies, toddlers and pre school age children can enjoy the challenging activities and opportunities available to support their own personal indvidual learning and development journey.
Our aim is to provide each baby and young child with the best possible start in life. All aspects of the running of the nursery and your child's individual needs will be discussed with you personally. We provide flexible childcare and will make every effort to accommodate your personal requirements for your child's attendance at Rainbows 2.
The staff are well qualified and experienced. We were inspected by Ofsted in May 2025 when we were graded as Good. Our Ofsted report stated, “As a result of the strong bonds and connections that staff build with all children, including those with SEND, children thrive."
We are open Mondays to Fridays throughout the year except on bank holidays and for two weeks at Christmas. We also close for two staff training days each year. Advance notice is always given for all of our planned closures.
Our opening times are 7.30am until 6pm during school term times and from 8am until 5.30pm during school holidays.
All babies and children will be supported to settle into the nursery according to their own needs. Parents will be invited to visit Rainbows 2 with their baby or child before they start so they can meet the staff and discuss how Rainbows 2 works. This enables babies and children to become familiar with the nursery before they start.
Everyone will be given a warm welcome and babies and children will soon be reassured by the fun element of the nursery.

Rainbows 2 - Our Prices for Children in Receipt of the Nursery Education Grant for Eligible Working Parents
Rainbows 2 provides funded only places or parents can buy additional hours or days if required. We offer term time only (38 weeks) places for children accessing 15 or 30 hours of funding and we also offer a stretched full year round funding (50 weeks) for working parents entitled to the funding.
We provide a range of healthy meals and snacks for an additional charge. We also offer a range of optional, additional outings, activities and experiences that we charge for in advance as they are organised. Parents are required to provide their own wipes, nappies and creams including sun cream.

If you do not wish to pay for specific meals, for example, because you wish to provide your own, please ensure the manager is informed as soon as possibleso next steps can be discussed. All food provided by parents must comply with our Allergens Policy and our Packed Lunch Policy in order to protect all children and staff with allergies.
